Emptiness

There is no destiny. There is no fate. There is a way to the universe, a
connectedness, an unfolding. However, it is not predetermined. It makes sense in retrospect, sometimes. Many times it does not. You are not destined to be with a certain person, job, or experience. Your life, my life, is not crammed into a lunch box just waiting to be eaten. It is not a suitcase jammed with stuff needing to be unpacked and put away. Everything moves in its own direction and in the same direction simultaneously. The unfolding is not evil; in fact, it is benign and looking out for us in many ways. But it does not preclude suffering, as seen from our point of view. Call it God, gods, divinity, the Tao, or what you will. It is personal and universal, a force, and a surrender.
